The Making History project seeks to connect young people to society on a deeper level through the power of family history and personalised learning, enabled by IT & digital technology; and to develop & enhance practical and social skills that are vital to their futures.

What We Do

Making History increases a child's understanding of their culture & identity, giving them a sense of belonging and, through their personal films, a voice; raises their aspiration

  • Helps children learn valuable skills through online & offline research
  • Increases tolerance & understanding across social, cultural & generational boundaries
  • Encourages children, parents and the community to work together
  • Inspires & trains the next generation of researchers, historians, IT experts,    filmmakers, writers & director

Needs Being Addressed

Young people can feel disengaged & disconnected from society and their communities, and this can affect both their education and their future employability

  • The Making History project seeks to connect young people to society on a deeper level through the power of family history and personalised learning, enabled by IT & digital technology; and to develop & enhance practical and social skills that are vital to their future

How We Do It

By enabling children to research their family history and become its guardians before it's too late.

  • The average age of a family historian is 55, by which time their greatest resources - parents & grandparents - are often no longer alive
  • By working with younger age groups to get them interested & engaged in their family, local & community histories
  • By connecting students, families & schools across UK & the world through innovative approaches to digital technology for research, content generation & distribution
  • By using the power of celebrity for good for once to inspire & encourage
  • By having Making History become the key conduit and infrastructure for related initiatives, partnerships & collaborations ~ like a coral reef, so to speak
